Fall 2016 Legal Internship at Illinois Legal Aid Online

By Andrew Sharp on August 09, 2016

Are you looking for an internship that will expose you to cutting edge technology, a large variety of areas of substantive law, and the access to justice movement?

Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) is currently accepting applications for our fall legal internship program. Our law student interns help us build and manage our statewide legal information website, and assist with many other technology-assisted projects that help those in Illinois most in need. They also collaborate with attorneys - both on our staff and associated with our partner organizations - to research and revise legal articles for our site.

Having just launched our brand new website on August 1st, 2016, we are excited to bring on our first post-launch class of interns. As a fall intern, you can help us introduce the new features of our website to users and help us build version 2.0. Above all, you will help bring legal assistance to millions of people in Illinois who would otherwise be on their own.

Funding information

We will accept applications from:

  • Law students/grads who have funding
  • Work study law students
  • Law students seeking academic credit or participating in an externship through their law school
  • Law students/grads who do not have funding

Unfortunately we cannot offer funding for this internship.

Interns work 8-12 hours per week. We are flexible in terms of scheduling, but all hours must be completed within our business hours (8am-5pm CST).

120 S. LaSalle St.

Remote work

For the first time, we are accepting applications from law students outside the Chicago area who would like to work remotely. However, remote work applicants must display outstanding qualifications for the position, or a history of working successfully in a remote work arrangement. Remote work interns will still be expected to complete their hours during our business hours (8am-5pm CST).

If you are interested in a remote work internship, please indicate this in your email.
