Description

The Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law is excited to announce a two-part webinar series on Affordable Housing Preservation Strategies for Illinois Advocates. This training program is funded by the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois.

Part 2: Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD)

Under RAD, over 14,000 public housing units in Illinois have converted or are in the process of converting to project-based vouchers or project-based rental assistance. Congress recently authorized a dramatic expansion of RAD, and even more units are expected to undergo this conversion. RAD is a dramatic shift for public housing residents, and it is essential that advocates understand the strong tenant protections in the RAD program and ensure that local housing authorities and HUD are implementing it in a way that benefits tenants.

Topics will include an overview of RAD, strategies for optimizing tenants' rights and participation, and protecting the tenants' right to remain.
