There are different types of criminal records:
- Court disposition: The final judgment or outcome in a court case. There are no court dispositions for arrests or charges that did not lead to a court case.
- RAP sheet: RAP stands for Record of Arrests and Prosecutions. A RAP sheet is a list of all arrests by a law enforcement agency, the charges filed, and court case outcomes of each arrest that resulted in a court case.
- Illinois State Police Criminal History Transcript: List of all arrests and convictions that happened in Illinois.
If you were arrested before your 18th birthday, and the case was handled in juvenile court, you have a juvenile record. Criminal records come from cases that are handled in adult court. Juvenile records do not affect your eligibility to expunge your criminal record.
You may be eligible to expunge your juvenile records even if you have an adult record.
