As the state of Illinois continues to operate without a budget there has arisen a larger need on the part of students and families for legal advocacy.
This course is part two of three courses meant to provide attorneys with a broad overview of special education law and school discipline law in Illinois. In part two participants will learn the nuts and bolts of education advocacy and the different mechanisms of conflict resolution available in education disputes, both formal and informal. Including how to advocate through demand letters, IEP meetings, due process complaints, and other channels. Participants will also consider and apply their new knowledge in one case study example.
