Non-citizens who have applied for an immigration benefit are required to report any change of address to USCIS within 10 days of moving. This helps avoid delays in getting important mail. To report the change, fill out Form AR-11, Alien’s Change of Address Card. There is no fee to submit this form, whether you file it online or by mail.

Change your address online

Changing your address online is often easier than printing and mailing the form, but it’s not available to everyone.

  • If you have any pending or recently approved applications or petitions, you can file your AR-11 form online. Doing this will update your address on all pending applications, petitions, or requests almost immediately, and you won’t need to mail the form.

  • However, you cannot use the online system if you have a pending or approved VAWA I-360, T visa, or U visa, and you have also filed an I-485, I-765v, or I-751. For pending or approved VAWA, T, or U-related cases, change of address requests can be done by calling the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 (TTY: 800-767-1833).

Fill out and file a paper form AR-11

To download the form and find additional information, visit Form AR-11, Change of Address.

Make sure you include all of the information requested on the form, including your:

  • Date of birth,
  • USCIS number (also referred to as A-number, alien registration number, or alien number),
  • New address,
  • Last or most recent previous address,
  • Mailing address, if different from present physical address
  • Date and Signature

The address where you should mail your form AR-11 is:

US Department of Homeland Security
Citizenship and Immigration Services
Attn: Change of Address
1344 Pleasants Drive
Harrisonburg, VA 22801

On the outside of the envelope, write: "Attention: Address Change."

Although you are not required to use registered, certified, or receipt mail, you may want to send your AR-11 with a return receipt Proof of delivery with the recipient's signature, and the date and time of delivery or another mailing method. You should keep your mailing receipt as proof that you mailed it in case there is ever a question about it or if your form does not reach the USCIS.
