Description
Interested in how to use the courts to address police misconduct? Look no further! Illinois Legal Aid Online, the Chicago Bar Association's Civil Rights Committee, and First Defense Legal Aid are happy to present a remote Continuing Legal Education event designed to introduce practitioners, law students, and the public to police misconduct litigation in Chicago and Illinois.
Chicago attorney Julie Herrera will cover the basics of litigating a lawsuit against the police, including where and when to file, which legal claims to consider and pursue, discovery basics, responding to motions for summary judgment, and preparing for trial. A Q & A will follow the presentation.
1.5 hours of free CLE credit available to event attendees on the day of the presentation only. NOTE: pre-registration is required through GoToWebinar--see registration details for link and consider arriving at the presentation a few minutes early to give time to install the GoToWebinar software. With questions, please email [email protected].
