When you are arrested or charged with a crime, a criminal record is created, even if you are not convicted, the charges are dropped, or you are released without being charged at all. These records are often accessible to the public, including employers and landlords.

A criminal record includes:

  • Arrests
  • Charges filed against you
  • The outcomes of your cases, including any sentences you received

Understanding your criminal record is important for your future. It can make it easier to apply for jobs or housing and is the first step in clearing or sealing When a criminal record is hidden from most of the general public, but not law enforcement your record.
