Getting a copy of a parental responsibilities order

To get a copy of a parental responsibilities order, you can search for your case file. This file is kept by the trial court (the Circuit Court) clerk's office in the county where the case took place.  For location and contact information, see the list of Illinois Circuit Court Clerks by County.

Sometimes the order is called "Allocation of Parental Responsibilities Order." Sometimes it is part of other judgment  or order.

For example, it may be part of

  • a Judgment for Dissolution of Marriage in a divorce case,
  • a Parentage Order in a parentage case, or
  • an order of protection in a domestic abuse case.

It may also be part of any of the following types of cases:

  • Allocation of parental responsibilities (custody)
  • Legal separation, or
  • Child support .
