The following are defenses that you can raise to contest your parking ticket:

• You are not the owner of the vehicle.
• The vehicle was reported stolen.
• The parking meter malfunctioned.
• No sign was posted.
• You gave your car to a valet parking service and you have a receipt.
• The vehicle or its state registration plates (license plates) were stolen at the time of the violation.
• The relevant signs prohibiting or restricting parking were missing or obscured.
• The information cited in the violation is incorrect or inconsistent with parking violation parameters in the City of Chicago.
