Your title and tenure with ILAO:
I served as ILAO's Content Director from January 2011 through September 2017.
What you’re doing now
I am now the Deputy Director at the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism.
What did you gain from your time at ILAO?
During my time at ILAO, I learned that technology was not as hard as I made it out to be and that it could be designed and used to reach more people than we imagined.
I also learned how to be a better project manager, meeting facilitator, and concise writer. Importantly, I was able to work with legal aid advocates across the state of Illinois. I was – and still am -- in awe of their generosity and dedication to equal justice.
One memory you have of your time at ILAO
We had the audacity to move from five websites into one!

Favorite technology of the moment:
As much as it is overused, I would still say Zoom. I am amazed how it completely changed the way we work over the last year. In fact, the Commission on Professionalism will be using Zoom this spring to host our The Future Is Now: Legal Services conference, which will be held April 27-29, 2021, from 12-2 p.m. CDT. We are designing an interactive event that will be just as engaging as our in-person conference, but all virtual. I’d encourage anyone who is interested in the future of legal services to register and earn CLE.
Alternative career:
Comedian and writer
What law would you abolish if you could? What law would you create?
I would abolish the death penalty and create a Civil Gideon.
