CVLS GAL for Minors Training

Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for Minors training will cover the skills required to be a successful GAL for a minor as well as the issues that may come up during the case. This training is for licensed attorneys interested in working as pro bono Guardians ad Litem for children through CVLS. No prior experience is necessary.

New, uniform, state-wide court forms have been approved for all minor guardianship cases in Illinois. Private and pro bono practitioners should be transitioning to these forms for initial petitions for guardianship of minors. Discharge petitions have not been revised yet and attorneys may continue to use the prior forms for discharges until further notice.  Please note that there is now no fee for filing minor guardianships. However, CLSP forms are still needed to obtain free fingerprint orders and publication, so pro bono attorneys on CVLS cases should continue to file them.
