Description

Wondering how the state's failure to disclose evidence to a Defendant in a criminal case can help in a future civil rights lawsuit? Illinois Legal Aid Online and First Defense Legal Aid are happy to present a remote Continuing Legal Education event intended for practitioners, law students, and members of the public who want to learn more about this critical topic.

Attorney Richard Dvorak, with offices in Chicago and Willowbrook, will cover the basics of litigating a lawsuit against the police based on the withholding of evidence in violation of Brady v. Maryland, 373 U.S. 83 (1963), including where and when to file, immunities and defenses, strategies for finding further Brady materials during civil discovery, and proving up Brady violations. A Q & A will follow the presentation.

1.25 hours of free CLE credit available to day-of attendees only. NOTE: pre-registration is required through GoToWebinar. With questions, please email [email protected].
