Founded in 1874, The Chicago Bar Association is one of the oldest and most active metropolitan bar associations in the United States. The Association is a voluntary membership consisting largely of lawyers and judges from Cook County and the State of Illinois.

Position Summary: The Chicago Bar Association (CBA) is committed to supporting the legal profession and serving the public through education, professional development, and community engagement. CBA seeks a Committee and Member Services Coordinator who will play a critical role in fostering engagement of both committee leaders and members. This role coordinates committee meetings, maintains committee records and communications, and assists members with inquiries related to committee participation.  The position works closely with staff and volunteer leadership to ensure committee activities run smoothly and provide a high-quality experience for members.  The coordinator is responsible for the maintenance and functioning of CBA and Young Lawyer Section (YLS) committees including coordinating their meetings and fulfilling any special requests.

 

Specific Assignments: 

  • Manage and maintain the calendar and scheduling for all CBA and YLS committee meetings
  • Maintain committee rosters and distribute updates to committee leadership
  • Create and maintain online registration pages for committee events on the website and determine MCLE eligibility
  • Distribute meeting notices and upload materials for committee meetings
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, including AV and other arrangements
  • Assist with planning and coordination of special committee events and functions
  • Support annual committee registration, including processing changes and updating rosters
  • Respond to member inquiries regarding committees, meetings, and registration
  • Troubleshoot issues related to committee meetings and operations
  • Coordinate committee leadership transitions and annual chair/vice-chair orientation, including updating the committee chair handbook
  • Prepare year-end committee service reports
  • Provide general customer service support, including answering CBA phone calls and emails
  • Assist with additional projects as assigned

EXPERIENCE:  Entry-level role: minimum 0-2 years of professional experience in customer service, membership organizations, events, or administrative coordination preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Strong customer service and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management platforms; familiarity with iMIS is a plus
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with members and colleagues
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals
  • Ability to produce accurate, professional work with minimal errors
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while responding to multiple member inquiries in a timely manner

Pay scale and benefits

Pay scale and benefits

Pay scale:  Annual salary $40,000 - $44,000 based on experience and qualifications.
