Job Description
The Village Legal and Community Project is looking for an experienced paralegal with the ability to master multi-tasking with excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude.
- Perform legal research and draft client communications, memos, and pleadings;
- Provide support by booking appointments, calendaring court dates, and preventing conflicts.
- Screen phone calls and routing callers to the appropriate party.
- Use computers to generate reports, create presentations, and conduct research.
- Communicate with clients and gather necessary documents and information.
- Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
- Attend outreach and special events.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Paralegal certification is preferred.
- Prior legal experience, especially legal aid preferred.
- Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office, CLIO and Lexis Nexis or Westlaw.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
