Responsibilities:
- Maintain a caseload of individual cases in the areas of landlord/tenant, building code violations, parenting time, child support, sealing and expungement of records and other matters as needed.
- Engage in community outreach.
- Represent The Village Legal and Community Project on relevant community task forces, committees, or other government or non-profit bodies connected with our work.
- Work collaboratively with The Village Legal and Community Project supervisors and staff, to provide comprehensive legal services.
- Maintain case files and accurate time records.
- Assist in reporting and administering applicable grants.
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a J.D. degree and be licensed to practice in the state of Illinois. Must have at least two years of demonstrated experience. Experience in public interest law is preferred. Applicants must have enthusiasm about working in a fast-paced practice and taking on new or challenging matters. The applicant’s personal background, experience, or professional background should reflect an ability to work effectively with clients, co-workers and the community we serve.
