Job Description
The Village Legal and Community Project is looking for an experienced attorney to serve as a Staff Attorney helping clients in criminal records relief using sealing, expungement, certificates of good conduct and health care waivers. The Staff Attorney will also supervise the paralegal assisting with Criminal Records Relief.
- Provide brief advice and counsel, limited and full representation to clients seeking relief through sealing, expungement, healthcare waivers and certificates of good conduct.
- Use computers to generate reports, create presentations, and conduct research.
- Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and in person.
- Attend outreach and special events.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
- Prior legal experience, especially legal aid preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Self-driven, highly organized with excellent time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and at ease working with a diverse population.
Pay scale and benefits
- Salary-$30,000-$35,000 annually
