If you are in deportation proceedings, and you fear going back to your country you may qualify for special protections. Contact the National Immigrant Justice Center's LGBTQ Immigrant Rights Initiative provides legal services to low-income immigrants who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) and those who are living with HIV.
If you or someone you know is detained by immigration, no matter where in the country the detention center is located, NIJC can provide information and assistance to help the detained individual avoid deportation. Their Asylum Documentation Project will send any detained person a packet of information that he or she can submit to the immigration court in support of a request for asylum.
