Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is an immigration status that allows people from certain countries to live and work in the United States. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) decides what countries are on the TPS list. This means that citizens of a country on the list, or people without nationality but who last lived in that country, may qualify for TPS.
