Immigrant victims of abuse, crime, and trafficking
Immigrant survivors of certain kinds of crimes, including mental or physical abuse, may be able to get immigration relief. People who are victims of certain crimes and who help law enforcement may be eligible for a U visa. Survivors of human trafficking may also be eligible for relief. Certain relatives of US citizens and lawful permanent residents (LPRs or green card holders) who suffered abuse at their hands may also be eligible for a green card. Learn more here.
Undocumented victims of certain crimes, including domestic violence, and the families of the victims can qualify to stay in the United States. Both a U Visa and the Violence Against Women Act or VAWA can be used to protect you from an abuser and stay in the country.
