This Easy Form helps you ask the court to expunge cannabis-related convictions from your criminal record. "Expunging" means erasing the police and court records of the conviction.

You can use our Criminal record expungement or sealing request Easy Form to clear other criminal records. If you want to expunge juvenile offenses from your record, you can use our Expunge juvenile records Easy Form instead.

The Easy Form does not e-file your forms. You can download the forms and e-filing instructions at the end of the program.

Learn more about clearing your record of cannabis convictions.

This program will help you make your court forms. It will ask questions for you to answer. At the end of the program, you will get completed court forms and instructions. You can save and print them, or the program can email them to you.

Form completion time: 10 minutes to 20 minutes

You will be able to save your work in the middle of the program.

This program will help you avoid mistakes when filling out the court forms. Your case could be delayed if there are errors on your forms. If you want to download a PDF version, visit the Illinois Courts Standardized State Forms website. Use Adobe Reader to fill in the PDF forms or print the forms to fill out by hand.

The interview and forms are in English.

Can I use this program?

To use this program, you must have Misdemeanor or Class 4 felony convictions for Sections 4 and 5 of the Cannabis Control Act. The convictions must have happened before June 25, 2019, in Illinois. To clear other criminal records, use our Criminal record expungement or sealing request program. To clear juvenile records, use our Expunge juvenile records program.

If you are not a US citizen, you should consult an immigration lawyer before you try to seal or expunge your record. Any evidence of criminal activity, even if sealed or expunged, can be used in proceedings.

What do I need first?

To complete this program, you will need:

  • Court Dispositions for your cannabis convictions,
  • Your Illinois State Police RAP Sheet, and
  • If you had arrests or charges in Chicago, your Chicago Police RAP Sheet.

You also need to know the outcome of your cannabis court cases. For each conviction, you will need the:

  • Arrest date,
  • Arresting agency,
  • Case number,
  • Charge,
  • Outcome, and
  • Date of conviction

What documents will this create?
